What is the relationship between devotion, knowledge, and the removal of ignorance according to the provided text?

📖 Chapter 50

Chapter 50 explains that devotion is a crucial prerequisite for attaining knowledge (Jnana) and dispelling ignorance (Avidya). It posits that without Brahman-knowledge, rituals like bhajan and worship are ultimately meaningless. The mind is described as being soiled by Avidya, and its cleansing can only happen through devotion to God, which in turn allows knowledge to be born. Devotion acts like a special collyrium (Anjan) that enables one to see hidden truths. When devotion is practiced, ignorance is removed, knowledge dawns, and one attains their own true form, as the root of knowledge is the removal of ignorance.
