According to Chapter 46, the path to self-knowledge begins with surrendering body, speech, and mind at the Guru's feet and constantly chanting his name. This practice washes away sins and destroys the qualities of 'Rajas' and 'Tamas', while gradually increasing 'Sattva' (purity).
