What is the nature of the 'causal body' and how can it be removed?

The 'causal body', also known as 'karana' body or the 'Unmanifest' (Avyakruta), is described in Chapter 50 as being associated with a reflection of consciousness and is the very cause of pure ignorance. The text explains that the ignorance of the Soul is the cause of this body's existence. The only way to remove this causal body is through a specific realization. As stated in Chapter 50, the removal is achieved 'Only by the knowledge of the unity of Brahman and the Soul.' This profound knowledge dispels the underlying ignorance, thereby dissolving the causal body and leading to liberation, which is defined as abiding in one's own true form.
