What is the nature of Sai Baba as described in his life story?

According to Chapter 37 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, the life story of Sai Baba reveals his actions to be incomprehensible and marvelous. His state is unpredictable; sometimes He is described as intoxicated with the bliss of the Self (Brahmananda), and at other times He performs all actions while remaining completely detached. While He may appear inactive, He is always alert and focused on Self-realization. The text further explains that He holds brotherhood with men and treats women as His sisters or mothers, and is known to all as a celibate. This profound nature makes His true form difficult to fathom or accurately describe.
