What is the nature of Avidya, or ignorance, and how is it overcome?

According to the teachings in Chapter 50, Avidya, or ignorance, is the root cause of the causal body and the illusion of the world. It is described as the ignorance of the Soul and is also equated with Maya and Prakriti. This ignorance causes Brahman to appear qualified (shabal) and leads to the delusion that the world is real, much like a rope might be mistaken for a snake. The text explains that this ignorance can only be removed through the realization of the unity between Brahman and the Soul. As stated in Chapter 50, when this knowledge arises, ignorance is dispelled, leading one towards liberation.
