What is the meaning of the parrot-in-a-cage analogy as explained in Chapter 23 of the Sai Satcharitra?

📖 Chapter 23

In Chapter 23, the analogy of the parrot in a cage is used to illustrate the condition of the sensual soul (Kamuk) trapped by worldly existence. The parrot represents the soul, while the cage symbolizes the physical body and its associated attachments. Just as the parrot becomes fond of its 'golden bars' and the 'pomegranate seeds' it is fed, the soul becomes attached to sensual pleasures and the perceived security of its dependent state. It mistakes this confinement for happiness and does not know the 'wonder of freedom.' The chapter further explains that liberation comes when the parrot meets an 'extraordinary master'—representing the Guru—who applies 'ointment to its eyes,' symbolizing the spiritual wisdom that awakens the soul to its true, free nature beyond the cage of Maya.
