What is the main condition for being able to meet a saint, according to the teachings in Chapter 21?

📖 Chapter 21

Chapter 21 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra teaches that the primary condition for attaining the company of Saints is not personal effort or proximity, but the presence of God's grace and the dawning of good fortune. The author, Hemadpant, illustrates this principle with his own experience of failing to visit the Siddha Pir Maulana in Bandra, stating, "One fears one's own shadow when ill-luck stands in the way." Despite being urged to go, his pride and unfavorable destiny prevented the meeting. This is contrasted with his later "unbreakable bond" with Shirdi, which became possible only when the right time came. The chapter explicitly states that the company of Saints is not accessible to the unfortunate and that this union is difficult to attain unless God's grace makes it easy.
