What is the connection between the ego, suffering, and the Soul as described in the Satcharitra?

📖 Chapter 19

Chapter 19 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra draws a direct line between ego, suffering, and a misunderstanding of the Soul's true nature. The text explains that as long as a person maintains an ego centered on the body, intellect, and mind—the false notion of 'I am the body'—the sense of being a 'doer' and 'enjoyer' persists. This false identification is what makes the experience of pleasure and pain unavoidable. The Soul, in reality, is distinct from these elements. True fulfillment and liberation from suffering, therefore, depend on gaining knowledge and detachment, which dissolves this ego and reveals the Soul's true, changeless nature.
