What is Sai Baba's perspective on moderate eating versus the extremes of fasting or overeating?

📖 Chapter 32

Sai Baba advocated for a balanced approach to food, rejecting both extremes of overindulgence and excessive fasting. Chapter 32 explicitly states that "Excessive eating is also not beneficial. Moderate eating is truly comfortable." This shows a clear preference for moderation. While overeating is mentioned as not beneficial, the text places a stronger emphasis on the dangers of fasting. It describes excessive fasting as "terrible" because it "causes continuous discomfort." Baba's core message was that a hungry person cannot achieve a peaceful mind, and without a peaceful mind, spiritual progress is impossible. Therefore, his guidance was to eat moderately to maintain the strength of the senses for devotion, avoiding the discomfort and spiritual hindrances caused by extreme dietary practices.
