What is Maya according to this chapter, and how is it related to bondage and liberation?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 50

Chapter 50 describes Maya as an indescribable illusion of name and form that is very difficult to overcome. Its dwelling place is said to be any pulse of imagination that occurs in the mind. The text explains that the states of both bondage and liberation are born from this very imagination. While one power of Maya leads to bondage, another can lead to liberation from that bondage. The text affirms the Vedic principle that "Only from knowledge comes liberation," but clarifies that this knowledge cannot dawn without the destruction of sinful karma. One who attains pure knowledge is said to have abandoned Maya by their own resolve and is no longer subject to its bondage or modifications.
