Baba teaches that the intellect which establishes duality, or the idea of separateness, is pure ignorance. As Chapter 14 explains, holding onto this sense of manifoldness and difference leads to the cycle of birth and death. The mind gets stuck in duality due to errors like ignorance and delusion. True wisdom is achieved by turning away from this state of ignorance, which leads to the purification of the mind and the attainment of oneness, where one can see the single essence in everything.
