What happened when the Sanyasi returned to Dev's town sooner than expected?

The Sanyasi returned to Dahanu in a tonga about a month after his first visit, much earlier than the two to four months Dev had suggested. As described in Chapter 40, this premature return made Dev suspicious. However, the Sanyasi's purpose for this visit was different. He informed Dev, 'I haven't come for money; today we want a meal.' He also mentioned he had two companions with him. Despite his initial doubts, Dev graciously agreed, telling the Sanyasi to consider his house their own and inviting them to eat at noon.
