What happened when Kashiram was attacked by robbers, and how was Sai Baba involved from a distance?

According to the events described in Chapter 0, Kashiram, a cloth seller, was attacked by Bhil robbers while returning from the Naur market. While he allowed them to take some belongings, he fought back to protect a small bundle of powdered sugar. In the ensuing fight, he killed two thieves but was struck by an axe and left for dead. Simultaneously in Shirdi, Sai Baba, referred to as Maharaj, became extremely agitated, shouting and swearing. The people around him understood this behavior as a sign that a dear devotee was in great danger and that Maharaj's agitation was a spiritual act to protect them. This is exactly what happened, as the text notes, "what can the killer do against the Savior?" showing that Maharaj was protecting Kashiram from afar during the life-threatening attack.
