What happened when Kaka Mahajani's friend, who was skeptical of idol worship, visited Shirdi?

Kaka Mahajani's friend, who was a great devotee of the formless and averse to idol worship, went to Shirdi with a clinical curiosity. As described in Chapter 35, he made two conditions with his friend Kaka: he would not bow his head to the saint nor offer any Dakshina. However, upon arriving at the mosque, Sai Baba called out to him from a distance with the words, "Why have you come in this manner?" The tone of Baba's voice was so strikingly similar to his deceased father's that the friend was astonished. This experience caused him to melt inside and, forgetting his resolve, he bowed his head at Baba's feet.
