What happened when Amir Shakkar asked Sai Baba for a cure for his rheumatism?

When Amir Shakkar narrated his illness and prayed for deliverance from his rheumatism, Sai Baba gave him a seemingly paradoxical remedy. As detailed in Chapter 22, Baba instructed him to stay steadily in the Chavadi. This was a very difficult instruction, as the Chavadi was old, dilapidated, and filled with dampness and cold, which were contrary conditions for a rheumatism patient. Amir was to stay there for nine months, accepting Baba's word as the true medicine. Despite the hardship and being forbidden from even visiting the Masjid, Amir's faith ensured everything went well, and his location ironically granted him regular, effortless visions of Baba.
