What happened to Kashiram when he was attacked by thieves, and what was he carrying?

When Kashiram was attacked by thieves, they tried to take a small bundle he was carrying. As detailed in Chapter 0, this bundle did not contain treasure as the thieves thought, but rather powdered sugar that Kashiram used to feed ants, following the advice of a saint named Janakidas Baba. Because the bundle was very dear to him, he fought back, killing two thieves with a dropped sword before a third struck him on the head with an axe, knocking him unconscious. The thieves fled, thinking he was dead, but he later regained consciousness.
