What happened to Kashiram after he was attacked, and what was the aftermath of his bravery?

After being struck by an axe and left for dead, Kashiram eventually regained consciousness. As described in Chapter 0, his faith in Maharaj was so strong that he refused to go to a hospital, insisting instead, "Take me to Shirdi." In Shirdi, he was treated by Madhavrao Deshpande on Maharaj's instructions and recovered fully by Maharaj's grace. In recognition of his courageous act, Kashiram received a sword as a gift from the Bombay government. He lived for several more years after the incident, passing away in Shake 1830.
