After being struck by an axe and left unconscious by thieves, Kashiram was not dead as they presumed. Chapter 0 explains that after some time, he regained consciousness. His immediate reaction demonstrated his profound faith in Maharaj. He completely refused to be taken to a hospital for treatment. Instead, he insisted, "Take me to Shirdi." He was brought there and, following Maharaj's instructions, was treated by Madhavrao Deshpande. His subsequent recovery was attributed to Maharaj's grace, and for his bravery, he later received a sword from the Bombay government.
