What happened to Kashiram after he was attacked, and how was he treated?

After being attacked by thieves and left for dead, Kashiram eventually regained consciousness. As Chapter 0 recounts, his faith in Maharaj was so profound that he refused to go to a hospital for treatment. Instead, he insisted on being taken to Shirdi. Once there, Madhavrao Deshpande treated him under the direct instructions of Maharaj. By Maharaj's grace, Kashiram's health improved and he recovered. For his brave actions during the fight, the Bombay government later presented him with a sword as a gift. He lived for some years after this incident.
