What happened during the Chavadi procession that made Laxmichand think of the 'evil eye', and how did Baba respond?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 28

During the Chavadi procession, as described in Chapter 28, Sai Baba developed a cough. Seeing this, Laxmichand had a purely mental thought, wondering if someone's "evil eye" had affected Baba, causing the persistent cough. The next morning in the masjid, Baba, speaking to Madhavrao but for Laxmichand's benefit, said, "Yesterday I had much coughing; is this the effect of an evil eye?" This direct echo of Laxmichand's private thought left him astonished, reinforcing his belief in Baba's divine ability to know the contents of a person's mind without any words being spoken.
