What happened during Sai Baba's three-day trance in 1886?

During the 1886 trance, Sai Baba experienced an asthma attack and informed his devotees that he would be drawing his life force into the crown of his head for three days. Chapter 44 recounts how He instructed them not to wake him and designated a spot for his Samadhi. After giving these instructions, his body became motionless, with no breath or pulse, appearing as if his soul had left. While it was a terrifying state for the people, it was a state of pure bliss for Sai. Mhalasapati, following Baba's command, faithfully guarded the body day and night, using his lap as a pillow for Baba's head.
