What happened during Kashiram's encounter with the Bhil robbers?

While returning from the Naur market on his horse, Kashiram was accosted by Bhil robbers. According to Chapter 0, he initially did not object when they took some of his belongings. However, he fiercely protected a small bundle of powdered sugar, which was dear to him because a saint had advised him to feed ants. In the ensuing struggle, a robber dropped his sword, which Kashiram picked up and used to kill two of the thieves. A third thief then struck him on the head with an axe, leaving him unconscious. The robbers, thinking he was dead, left him. He survived the attack and, due to his faith, insisted on being taken to Shirdi instead of a hospital.
