On the day of the Udyapan ceremony, a Sanyasi, who had visited Dev previously, returned exactly at noon with two other companions. As described in Chapter 40, Dev simply saw him as a guest who had come for a meal and did not recognize him as Baba in disguise. Dev seated all three of them, and they ate until they were thoroughly satisfied. After the meal, the standard rituals of Uttaraposhan and Shuddhachaman were completed. Dev respectfully offered sandalwood paste, flowers, betel leaves, and perfume to them, just as he did for the other Brahmin guests. Despite serving them personally, the "veil of Maya" prevented Dev from realizing that Baba had fulfilled his promise, and he remained doubtful.
What exactly happened when the three uninvited guests arrived for Dev's ceremony?
