According to the account in Chapter 44 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, Sai Baba, knowing his end was near, spent fourteen days and nights in focused contemplation, listening to a Brahmin recite the Ramayana. The text specifies that as two such weeks were completed, the day of Vijayadashami arrived, and Baba attained a state of bodilessness. Immediately after his breath left his body, the chapter mentions that Laxman-mama performed worship and Jog performed the Aarti.
