What does it truly mean to be a devotee of a Guru like Sai, according to the teachings?

📖 Chapter 45

To be a true devotee means one cannot bear being separated from the Guru for even a moment. As Chapter 45 explains, this requires a deep detachment from worldly affairs. True worship involves devotion with all senses, not just superficial acts. For example, it is not enough to look at an idol with your eyes if your speech is locked or your tongue is preoccupied with the taste of mangoes. A true Sai-devotee cannot be called attached to His feet if they do not know how to be detached from the world and its desires, such as the longing for soft beds even while touching the Guru's feet.
