What does Chapter 16 say about the importance of faith versus pride when approaching the Sadguru?

📖 Chapter 16

Chapter 16 places immense emphasis on the attitude of the disciple. It makes a clear distinction between offerings made with faith and those made with pride. The chapter states that if a leaf or flower is offered with sincere faith, the Sadguru "accepts it with great love." Conversely, if the same offering is made with pride, "He turns His face away immediately." This illustrates that the inner disposition of the devotee is far more important than the outward ritual. As the chapter explains, the Sadguru is an "ocean of Truth, Consciousness, and Bliss," so he has little regard for outward rituals unless they are done with sincere faith. The text warns that using "cleverness" (Chaturai) will lead a seeker into trouble, reinforcing the necessity of firm faith and humility.
