What did Sai Baba's Guru mean by asking for 'two paise'?

📖 Chapter 19

In a story recounted in Chapter 19, a disciple explains that his Guru asked him for two paise. This was not a request for worldly money, as the Guru was described as one whose desires were already fulfilled. Instead, the two paise were symbolic of two crucial spiritual virtues: Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi). The disciple states, "Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi)—these were the two paise, nothing else; I gave them to him then and there, and thus my Guru-Mother was pleased with me." This act signifies that the most valuable offering a disciple can make to their Guru is the commitment to cultivating unwavering faith and steadfast patience.
