What did Sai Baba mean when he told the woman his Guru asked him for two paise?

📖 Chapter 19

When Sai Baba recounted the story of his own Guru, he explained that his Guru asked him for two paise. As detailed in Chapter 19, these were not literal coins. Baba clarifies that his Guru had no need for worldly money. Instead, the two paise represented the virtues of 'Faith' (Nishtha) and 'Patience' (Saburi). Baba states, "Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi)—these were the two paise, nothing else; I gave them to him then and there, and thus my Guru-Mother was pleased with me." This teaching emphasizes that the most valuable offering a disciple can make to their Guru is not material wealth, but the internal qualities of unwavering faith and steadfast patience.
