What did Sai Baba do in the two weeks leading up to his passing, as described in Chapter 44?

📖 Chapter 44

According to Chapter 44 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, Sai Baba, knowing His end was near, engaged in a specific spiritual practice. For fourteen continuous days and nights, He listened to the Ramayana being recited by a Brahmin. The text emphasizes that Baba did this with focused contemplation. It was immediately after these two weeks of listening to the Ramayana were completed that the day of Vijayadashami arrived, which was the day Baba attained the state of bodilessness, or passed away. This act, as narrated in Chapter 44, underscores the deep connection Baba had with the sacred scriptures and his methodical preparation for His final moments.
