What did Sai Baba do in the days immediately before he passed away?

In the period leading up to his passing, Sai Baba undertook a specific spiritual practice. According to Chapter 44 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, knowing his end was near, Baba listened to a Brahmin recite the Ramayana. This was not a casual listening; he did this with "focused contemplation for fourteen days and nights." The text explicitly states that as soon as these two weeks of listening were completed, the day of Vijayadashami arrived, and it was on this day that Baba attained the state of bodilessness, or passed away.
