What challenges did the sannyasi learn about regarding his trip to Mansarovar, and how did this news affect him?

Upon arriving in Shirdi, the sannyasi Vijayananda met Swami Somdevji of Haridwar. As detailed in Chapter 31, the Swami informed him that Mansarovar was five hundred miles away at the source of the Gangotri, where much snow falls. He also warned that the language changes frequently and that outsiders face much hardship and fear from the local natives.
