What challenge did Das Ganu face while working on the Ishavasya Upanishad, and what did Sai Baba tell him to do about it?

📖 Chapter 20

The story of Das Ganu's work on the Ishavasya Upanishad is a central theme in Chapter 20. Das Ganu intended to create a commentary, the "Ishavasya-Bhavartha-Bodhini," to make the Upanishad's meaning accessible. However, as detailed in Chapter 20, he struggled because while he could translate the text word for word, he could not grasp its deeper, internal secret, and his mind found no joy in the work. The text emphasizes that understanding the Upanishads is incredibly difficult without a Guru's grace. When Das Ganu took his doubt to Sai Baba in Shirdi, Baba's response was intriguing. He told Das Ganu that the resolution to his doubt would be provided by a maidservant at Kaka’s house upon his return.
