The quarrel between Damu Anna and Mavshibai, both mature devotees, arose during their service to Sai Baba. As described in Chapter 24, Mavshibai was vigorously massaging Baba's stomach and, in her engrossed state, her face came very close to Anna's. She then playfully yet pointedly said, "What, Anna, why are you following me? First, give me a kiss," and followed up with, "Have you no shame for your gray hair? You are trying to kiss me!" This accusation infuriated Anna, who was an elderly man himself. He felt she was the one who had brought her face close to his and was now unfairly starting a fight, causing him to roll up his sleeves in anger.
