Chapter 1 of the Sai Satcharitra begins with a comprehensive series of auspicious invocations, or 'Mangalacharan'. The author offers salutations to a number of divine figures to ensure the obstacle-free completion of the book. As detailed in the chapter, these include Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles; Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Speech and knowledge; the Guru; the Family Deity (Narayana); and Shri Sitaramchandra. The author also bows to the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shankar, who represent the qualities of creation, preservation, and destruction. Finally, and most importantly, the author offers salutations to Sadguru Sainath himself, who is then identified with many of these deities throughout the chapter.
