While known for his love, Sai Baba could also be very firm. Chapter 19 reveals this sterner side. He would correct devotees sharply, as when he 'pierces them with an accurate arrow (of words)' if they secretly practiced Hatha Yoga incorrectly. He stated directly, 'Our caste is very harsh; we will try and tell you once or twice.' He even declared that if someone, including his own son, did not heed his words after being told twice, he would 'cut him in two and throw him away!' This shows that his guidance was not always gentle and he demanded sincere adherence from his followers.
Was Sai Baba always gentle, or could he be stern with his followers?
