Chapter 31 speculates on the tiger's karmic history, suggesting it was once a meritorious person who, out of intellectual pride, insulted a devotee of Hari. As a result of that devotee's curse, he was reborn into the cruel form of a tiger. However, a counter-curse also seems to have been in effect, which ultimately led him to Sai's feet for redemption. Through Sai's darshan, the sins were burned away, the bonds of past karma were broken, and suffering ended. This divine arrangement allowed the soul to be freed from the cruel body's bondage and attain salvation, paying off a debt from a past life.
The text speculates about the tiger's past life. What karmic reason is suggested for its journey to Sai Baba?
