It suggests that the tiger may have been a meritorious person in a previous life who, in a moment of pride, insulted a devotee of Hari. As a result, the devotee cursed him to take on a "cruel birth" as a tiger. However, a "counter-curse" was also given, which allowed him to eventually come to the feet of a great saint like Sai. Through Sai's darshan, the tiger's sins were burned away, its karmic bonds were broken, and it was freed from the suffering of its animal body, thus achieving salvation.
