The text describes the author as 'cynical' and 'critical'. Why would such a person be chosen to write a sacred text?

📖 Chapter 2

The description of the author's initial nature in Chapter 2 is not a contradiction but a central element of the teaching. The text states he was 'mischievous, talkative, cynical, and critical' and 'prone to argumentation.' This serves to demonstrate the transformative power of a Satguru. Sai Baba's core instruction is that the author 'should dissolve his ego and surrender it at my feet.' As Chapter 2 explains, once the ego is gone, Sai himself enters with 'I-ness' to write the story. Therefore, the author's initial flawed character highlights the very process of surrender and purification that is essential to the spiritual path, making him a perfect example rather than a poor choice.
