The Satcharita says Baba was generous but didn't give to all. Can you explain this apparent contradiction?

📖 Chapter 29

Chapter 29 addresses this very point about Sai Baba's nature. While his fame as a generous saint who distributed money was widespread and true, the text clarifies that his charity was selective. It states that although fakirs and beggars constantly came to his door, the merciful Baba "did not give to all alike." The author explains this by suggesting that receiving a gift from Baba was a matter of destiny or grace. The text poetically notes, "Whoever's auspicious time had arrived - only for them this blessing of happiness." Receiving something from the saint's hand was a fortune obtained only by the fortunate. This implies that Baba's actions, while seemingly unpredictable, were guided by a profound and incomprehensible wisdom, rather than being random or contradictory.
