While earlier works by poets like Shri Mahipati and Shri Dasganu Maharaj existed, they were not suitable for the deep, devotional study of a single saint. As Chapter 0 explains, these biographies were often brief, spanning only two or three pages. This brevity made them impractical for a dedicated 'Parayan' or 'Saptah'. The 'Shri Sai Satcharita' by Annasaheb Dabholkar was unique because it was a detailed, poetic, comprehensive, and grace-filled biography. It was specifically suited for this immersive study, filling a significant void and becoming one of only two such detailed Guru biographies found in Maharashtra at the time.
