Tell me about Amir Shakkar's trial of faith and how he responded to Baba's instructions.

📖 Chapter 22

Amir Shakkar's story is a powerful example of faith and surrender. As we learn in Chapter 22, he was suffering from rheumatism and sought a cure from Sai Baba. Baba's instruction was for him to live in the Chavadi, a dilapidated, damp, and unhygienic place completely unsuited for his health. Despite the miserable conditions, where even a 'dog would not eat the troubles,' Amir's faith was certain. Though his mind was in turmoil and all external conditions were contrary, he accepted Baba's word as his medicine and stayed in the Chavadi happily for nine months. This unwavering faith and obedience, even when the command seemed illogical and difficult, was the essence of his trial, and he passed it by holding onto Sai's word above all else.
