Please narrate the incident involving the practitioner of Yoga and the onions, and explain its significance as described in the Satcharitra.

📖 Chapter 23

Chapter 23 recounts the story of a practitioner of Yoga who came to Sai Baba seeking help to achieve Samadhi. However, upon seeing Baba eating stale bread with onions, a strong doubt about Baba's spiritual stature arose in his mind. Being omniscient, Sai Maharaj immediately addressed the man's unspoken thought by remarking to Nanasaheb Chandorkar, "Only those whose digestion is strong should eat onion. One who has the strength to digest it may eat onion freely." This statement startled the Yogi, as it directly targeted his inner misgiving. His doubt was instantly resolved, and he surrendered to Baba with true devotion. This story illustrates that a saint's true state is beyond external appearances like their diet.
