Please describe the terrible conditions of the Chavadi where Amir Shakkar was told to stay, and explain why he was able to endure it.

📖 Chapter 22

The Chavadi was in a dreadful state when Amir Shakkar was ordered to reside there. Chapter 22 paints a grim picture: it was an old, dilapidated building where lizards, scorpions, and lepers lived. There were seventeen knee-deep holes, garbage was piled in the back, and dogs would eat leftovers right there. The environment was a 'total chaos of wind and cold,' with rain from above and dampness from below. Amir was able to endure these horrific external conditions because he possessed a certain and powerful internal faith. He accepted Sai Baba's word as his true medicine, viewing the opportunity for Sai's company as the 'Great Prasad' that outweighed all physical misery, allowing him to stay there happily for nine months.
