People came to see Sai Baba for all sorts of reasons. What were some of their different motivations, and how did Baba's grace affect them?

📖 Chapter 14

As described in chapter 14, devotees approached Sai Baba with a wide spectrum of intentions. Some were filled with pure devotion, while others came specifically to test his sainthood, thinking, "If he tells me what's in my mind, then he is a saint." Many came with worldly desires, praying for long life, wealth, property, sons, and power. Interestingly, the text notes that some even came to mock Him. However, Baba's profound style and spiritual presence had a transformative effect. For those who came to mock, their bad intellect was often burnt away, and they would become devoted at his feet. Even if great fortune wasn't in their destiny, they would at least feel repentance and gain a firm spiritual experience, becoming more humble.
