Sai Baba emphasized the importance of continuing family devotional traditions. A powerful example of this is found in the story of Bhagwantrao Kshirsagar in Chapter 4. Bhagwantrao's father was a great devotee of Vitthal, but after his passing, the son stopped the worship and food offerings. When Bhagwantrao visited Shirdi, Baba, who knew his father, directly addressed the issue. Baba told him, 'He never offers food (Naivedya); he keeps me hungry too. He keeps Vitthal hungry too, that’s why I brought him to Shirdi.' Baba's stated purpose was to 'put him back to worship,' clearly showing his belief that such ancestral worship should be respectfully maintained.
My father was a big devotee of a particular god, but since he passed, we haven't kept up the worship. What was Sai Baba's advice in such a situation?
