In the context of Maharashtrian literature, why are works like the 'Shri Sai Satcharita' considered so significant and rare?

📖 Chapter 0

The significance of 'Shri Sai Satcharita' stems from a notable scarcity within Maharashtrian literary tradition. Chapter 0 states that there are very few ancient, detailed, poetic, and comprehensive works about saints that are suitable for Parayans and Saptahs. Before the 'Shri Sai Satcharita', the primary example was the 'Guru Charitra' by Shri Saraswati Gangadhar. The biography of Sai Baba, written by Annasaheb Dabholkar and published over six years, is presented as only the second such detailed Guru biography. This rarity makes it an exceptionally important and celebrated work for devotees.
