If I want to get closer to God, would Sai Baba recommend I undertake a fast?

📖 Chapter 32

Based on the teachings in Chapter 32, Sai Baba would advise against fasting as a means to get closer to God. He taught that realizing God with a hungry stomach "doesn't happen even in imagination." His practical guidance was that one should first "eat a piece of bread" before attempting spiritual contemplation, as the soul cannot find peace otherwise. He connected physical well-being directly to devotional capacity, questioning how the eyes can see God or the tongue describe His glory without the strength provided by food. Therefore, he would recommend nourishing your body rather than depriving it.
