Chapter 40 illustrates that while Sai Baba possessed omniscience, human interactions and intermediaries still played a crucial role. Baba himself stated, "When the letter is opened before Me, the state of mind within the letter is already known and stands before Me in person." Despite this, the process involving Jog served a purpose within the narrative. It allowed Dev to articulate his feelings of disappointment and doubt, creating the foundation for the lesson he would later learn. Jog acted as the trusted messenger whose testimony Dev sought. It was Jog who then relayed Baba's clarifying explanation back to Dev in a "detailed letter," which prompted Dev's profound realization and remorse. This human-level communication was the very mechanism that turned his doubt into a powerful experience of love and humility, highlighting the importance of the devotee's journey.
If Baba is omniscient and knew the contents of Dev's letter before it was even opened, what was the point of using Jog as a messenger? Why was all this indirect communication and resulting drama necessary?
