I read that Sai Baba's Guru asked him for two paise. What was the real meaning behind this request? Was it actual money?

Sai Baba explained that his Guru's request for two paise was not for worldly money, as his Guru was one whose desires were already fulfilled and had no use for gold. As recounted in Chapter 19, Baba clarifies that this was a test of his discipleship. The two paise symbolized two essential virtues: Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi). Baba stated, "Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi)—these were the two paise, nothing else; I gave them to him then and there, and thus my Guru-Mother was pleased with me." This act demonstrates that what a true Guru seeks from a disciple is not material wealth, but profound spiritual qualities.
