When Baba did not appear in his known form, Dev felt disappointed and deceived, writing a letter to another devotee, Jog, asking, "How is it that Baba deceived me?" The issue was resolved when Jog communicated Dev's feelings to Baba. Sai revealed that he had attended the feast in the guise of a Sanyasi with two companions. When Jog relayed this truth back to Dev in a detailed letter, Dev was overcome with love and felt deep remorse, exclaiming, "Shame, shame! I blamed Sai in vain!"
